Q – WHEN IS THE MARKET AND WHAT ARE THE HOURS OF OPERATION?
A - The SoWa Open Market operates May 6, 2012 through October 28, 2012 (including holiday weekends). Selling day is Sunday. Selling times are from 10AM-4PM.

Q – WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
A - We are currently accepting applications for the following types of vendors:
SoWa Open Market – Artists, designers and artisans – All artwork and crafts must be hand made using original designs.
SoWa Farmers Market – Farmers and prepared food vendors.

Q – IS THE MARKET JURIED?
A - Yes. All vendors must submit the online application with 3 photos of their work. Submissions will then be reviewed and applicants will be notified of their acceptance status within 1 week by email.

Q – DO I NEED TO COMMIT TO FIVE DAYS?
A -
No. You can apply to sell as an “Unreserved Vendor”. Unreserved vendors are not guaranteed a booth space and are charged $125 a day. You are still required to submit an application and have your product approved before you can become an unreserved vendor.

Q – CAN I SHARE MY SPACE?
A – Yes. However both parties must still submit applications and be approved first.

Q – DO I NEED ANY SPECIAL PERMITS TO SELL AT THE MARKET?
A – Yes. Tax ID Numbers are
REQUIRED in Massachusetts. All Exhibitors must be in compliance with State & Federal Tax Laws and display Tax ID Certificate in booth. This is required for both in state and out of state vendors. If you do not have a tax id certificate, you can obtain one online in a few minutes at no cost. Click here to register with the Massachusetts Department of Revenue. Food vendors must display & obtain permits at their own expense. If you are sampling, or plan to sell prepared food at the market a special permit is required through the City of Boston. This permit must be displayed and presented to the market manager prior to opening. A limited amount of food spaces will available each Sunday. Q – HOW DO I PAY FOR MY RESERVED SPACE?
A – We accept electronic payments (via PayPal or any major credit card) or you can mail a check made out to NE Open Markets LLC to:

When sending a check, please write your invoice number in the memo section.

Q – DOES THE SOWA OPEN MARKET PROVIDE / RENT TENTS, CHAIRS, TABLES OR ANY SETUP MATERIAL?
A – No we do not. All setup materials are to be provided and are sole the responsibility of the vendor.

Q – ARE TENT WEIGHTS MANDATORY?
A – Yes they are. We require at least 40lbs of weight per leg. For more information about buying or building tent weights please click HERE

Q – WHAT TIME DO I NEED TO BE AT THE MARKET TO SETUP?
A - A few days before the market you will receive a setup email with your assigned setup time. Please arrive at your designated setup time. When you arrive the market manager will show you to your space. No vendor will be allowed to set up before 7:00am.

Q – CAN I ARRIVE OR BREAKDOWN EARLY?
A -
Vendors will not be allowed to set up before 7:00am and cannot breakdown before the market closes. If you have an extenuating circumstance please talk to the market manger when you arrive.

Q – IS THERE VENDOR PARKING?
A – Yes. Vendors can park at 500 Albany Street. Vendors and their employees are not allowed to park in the parking lot of the market.

Q – WHAT HAPPENS IF IT RAINS?
A –
The SoWa Open Market is a rain or shine market. Please be prepared by bringing the required set-up materials (tents or awnings). In the event of a cancellation due to severe weather, credits or refunds will not be granted.

Q – IS THERE AN ATM NEARBY?
A - Yes. Citizens, Mercantile and Citi Bank are located 2 blocks away on Washington Street and the Seven Eleven (also 3 blocks away on Washington Street) has an ATM.

Q – IS THERE A PLACE TO PURCHASE COFFEE AND FOOD NEARBY?
A – Every Sunday the market has a rotating group of gourmet food trucks and a large farmers market. The South End is also home to some of Boston’s best cafes, restaurants and bakeries, many are just a few short blocks away.
